Sports lover Britten-Jones says managing Piper Alderman in a post COVID world will be much like pulling together a premiership team.

“If you want to win a premiership you need to train together,” Britten-Jones says of his belief that although the firm successfully pivoted to remote operations through the pandemic and continues to support flexible working, there is a strong desire from both employees and clients to be in the same room.

Piper Alderman has a national footprint across Adelaide, Sydney, Brisbane, Melbourne, and recently Perth. Therefore, Britten-Jones says the future success of the firm relies on the staff taking ownership of a culture that positions the firm to adapt and respond to any mix of challenges. He says, for example, that although COVID-19 challenged the culture of many organisations, the long-held cultural foundations at Piper Alderman allowed the firm to respond in an agile manner that those without strong cultural footings failed to achieve.

The attraction and retention of exceptional talent who promote this culture across the firm bring great pride to Britten-Jones.

“Watching others succeed in a career that I have been so passionate about is incredibly rewarding,” he says.

He adds that this is why Piper Alderman is a long-standing supporter of InDaily’s 40 Under 40 Awards, saying that it’s “almost a no-brainer” to be involved.

“The people who feature in the 40 Under 40 reflect the values of our firm … especially two of our core values of innovation and dedication.”
