He says the tourism industry, which is bigger and more complicated than most people realise, employs around 40,000 people in South Australia and is forecasted to grow in the coming years.

This growth, Strachan says, will highlight one of the most important themes he sees in the sector — how staff are treated by their employers and how businesses become open to a change mindset.

Overseas travel is off the cards for Australians for the foreseeable future, and Strachan says now is the time for local operators to develop their products and services to entice local return visitors.
