Video: How to stay sane while working from home


Maintaining social networks, exercise regimes and adapting job tasks are keys to sustaining good mental health while working from home during the COVID-19 pandemic.

BDO Director Industrial & Organisational Psychology Scott Way says simple measures such as creating daily to-do lists and staying in touch with friends and family can prove vital to remaining positive in challenging times.

“Having good networks is very much at the frontline of maintaining good mental health … it’s still important to be able to turn to your friends, family and colleagues to vent or just express a concern,” he says.

“None of us would wish to have COVID-19 but it has thrown up some interesting benefits. We’ve learnt how to work more effectively from home, some of us have had to learn and grapple with new technologies and we’ve mastered a whole new bunch of skills so there is some good amongst the not so good stuff.”
