This year’s Royal Adelaide Wine Show saw the McLaren Vale winery receive the coveted Max Schubert Trophy for Most Outstanding Red Wine in Show for its 2016 Red Knot Grenache Shiraz Mourvedre.

Davey, who is also Shingleback’s senior winemaker, says the award is considered “one of Australia’s most important trophies”.

“We had 29 red wines entered in Adelaide Wine Show; we picked up five gold, 10 silver and 14 bronze, so every one of them is a winner,” he says.

“And I’m just as proud of the bronze winners as I am of this GSM.”

In addition to the Max Schubert Trophy, the label took home the Tilbrook Rasheed Trophy for Best Grenache or Grenache Blend, the Montgomery Trophy for Best Red Wine Under $20 and the Radoux Australia Trophy for Best Other Red Blend, for its 2016 Local Heroes Shiraz Grenache.

Davey talks more about the awards and Shingleback’s 2016 Red Knot Grenache Shiraz Mourvedre in the video below.
