Stein has spent the past 20 years working within the Crown Solicitor’s Office, rising from senior solicitor in the Civil Litigation Section to Crown Solicitor.

Attorney-General Vickie Chapman said Stein began her legal career as an Associate to High Court Justice McHugh and had gained significant experience across the public and private sectors.

“She has overseen numerous high-profile and sensitive matters in her time with Crown and has also led a number of reforms aimed at strengthening both the role and performance of the CSO,” Chapman said.

“Prior to that, she spent 10 years in private practice, working on many complex litigation cases. I have every confidence that Ms Stein will bring the thoughtful insight for which she is known to her time on the bench.”

Stein will begin her new role on Monday.

Chapman said the search for a new Crown Solicitor would begin shortly, with Assistant Crown Solicitor Ingrid Norman acting in the position.
