InDaily’s Richardson wins fifth SA Press Club award

InDaily’s Tom Richardson has won a fifth gong for Best Columnist at the SA Press Club awards held on Friday night.

Senior journalist Richardson was recognised for three columns; Secrets and lies? A day in the life of the spin cycle, Not quite the worst day ever and Fleeced in our time? The Marshall Govt’s political waterfight.

NewsCorp’s Nigel Hunt and Andrew Hough were joint winners of Best News Report, while Best Feature was won by NewsCorp’s Michael McGuire.

Hunt also won for Best Investigative Coverage of an Issue or Event, and received the SA Press Club’s Gold Award.

The ABC’s Caroline Winter won Best Broadcaster and Best News Feature or Long Form Radio Report, while ABC’s Angelique Donnellan took out Best Long Form Television Report and Best Regional or Rural Report.

ABC’s Claire Campbell snared Best Radio Report, with ABC’s Graeme Bennett winning Best Special or Extended Coverage of a News Event.

Pioneering former The Advertiser journalist Shirley Stott Despoja was given a Lifetime Achievement Award.
