Based at the University of South Australia Business School, the Centre’s growth programs are designed by Dr Jana Matthews, an international expert on entrepreneurial leadership and business growth, and Director of the Centre for Business Growth.

Established in July 2014, the Centre began offering intensive one-day Growth Assessment Clinics within its first two weeks. ANZ, a sponsor of the Centre, underwrote the cost of 40 CEOs attending a Growth Assessment Clinic, with 10 of those companies continuing in an intensive three-module growth program. After the companies successfully achieved an aggregate increase of 24 percent in revenue, 29 percent in profit and added 114 jobs, ANZ decided to sponsor more than 100 additional customer companies to participate in the program.

In December 2015, the South Australian Government announced a four-year grant of $4.2M to the Centre, to fully underwrite the cost of 240 South Australian companies participating in the Clinic and partially underwrite the cost of 120 of those companies continuing in the intensive growth modules (the cost to participate in the growth modules is $10,000 excluding GST).

ANZBG0455 SMLOn the back of this, the Centre launched its Growing South Australia’s Companies program which teaches CEOs/MDs and executives how to unlock the growth potential of their companies and drive growth. The program is specifically designed for CEOs/MDs and executives of South Australian companies with $2M-$50M in revenue and 5 – 200 employees who want to grow their company.

Centre Director and ANZ Chair in Business Growth, Dr Jana Matthews, notes “the program has been designed to provide CEOs/MDs and executives with the knowledge and skills needed to identify opportunities, overcome business challenges, drive competitive advantage and compete in a global marketplace.”

Over 30 CEOs/MDs have already participated in the Growth Assessment Clinic this year where they worked closely with Growth Experts to identify their company’s growth inhibitors and opportunities, and develop an action plan to overcome their business challenges. To date, 100 per cent of CEOs/MDs who have attended the Clinic said they would recommend it to another CEO who wants to grow their company.

“I can’t tell you how much I enjoyed and learnt from the Clinic. It was exceptional in every regard. I felt truly fortunate to be there and to be privy to so much wise counsel and years of experience,” says one CEO of an SA health care organisation.

“The Growth Assessment Clinic is a program that challenges CEOs to think deeply about the performance of their organisation and the specific factors that are holding back improved performance. The excellent facilitation by the Growth Experts and open dialogue with other attending CEOs helps to identify issues and develop an action plan. I would highly recommend the Clinic to CEOs and business owners,” says a CEO of an engineering company.

Applications are open for the fully subsidised Growth Assessment Clinic. For more information and to apply, visit the Centre for Business Growth.
