Murder charge over APY Lands death


A man has been charged with murder following an alleged stabbing in the state’s Far North.

In a statement, SA Police said that officers were called to the Ernabella Clinic in Pukatja in the Aṉangu Pitjantjatjara Yankunytjatjara Lands on Saturday morning, after reports a man had presented with stab wounds.

The 19-year-old man was flown to the Alice Springs Hospital in a critical condition but died on Sunday.

Later that day, Far North CIB arrested a 39-year-old man at Pukatja and charged him with murder.

Police said the man, from Osborne in Adelaide, knew the victim.

The charged man has been refused bail and will appear in the Port Augusta Magistrates Court today.
