Employees at the Mawson Lakes centre were told about the job losses on Tuesday after Optus said it would slash 480 positions Australia-wide, according to the CWU.

“The northern suburbs have been hit again and it’s not good news,” said Communication Workers Union SA and NT branch president Graham Lorrain.

Optus has been contacted for comment.
