Creative Learning Initiative: Examining Creative Learning and Community in the Education Space

MINDPOP ensures each and every student benefits from creative learning.

Learn more when MINDPOP Director, Dr Brent Hasty, speaks at The Bob Hawke Prime Ministerial Centre on Thursday 4 June 2015.

What are the benefits of Creative Learning?
Creative learning has significant cognitive, academic, artistic, and social benefits. Research shows that students who participate in creative learning opportunities are more engaged in school, have greater academic achievement, better attendance, higher graduation rates, and are more prepared for college and career.

How does Creative Learning work?
Engaging students is key to learning; the more we engage their minds and imaginations, the more success they have in school and beyond. That rewarding moment when everything “clicks” – the epiphany we call a “mindpop” – is what excites and motivates students and teachers alike.

Research shows “mindpops” happen more often when teachers incorporate the arts into lessons.

How does MINDPOP help kids?
In Classrooms – MINDPOP’s innovative approach infuses creative learning experiences, professional development, and curriculum enhancements into classes ranging from Math to English, Science to History.

In Fine Arts – MINDPOP strengthens the fine arts for all students, removes barriers to participation in the fine arts, and enhances fine arts academies.

In Communities – Quality arts organizations and creative learning experiences play a powerful role in educating children. MINDPOP connects students and their families to these opportunities in AND out of school through resources like an online creative learning directory and increased arts partnerships with schools.

Dr Brent Hasty, Director of MINDPOP, will discuss their work at a public lecture presented by The Bob Hawke Prime Ministerial Centre and Carclew on Thursday 4 June 2015.
