ABC 891’s breakfast team of Matthew Abraham and David Bevan has rocketed back into first place in the radio ratings.
After slipping to third behind FIVEaa and Mix in the last ratings period of 2014, the breakfast duo has experienced a huge resurgence in the first ratings period for 2015.
The pair put on four points to reach 18 per cent of the crucial breakfast market, way ahead of second placed FIVEaa which slipped 1.5 points to 12.7. It is a disappointing result for the breakfast team of David Penberthy, Jane Reilly and Mark Aiston, but they remain in second place. Mix would also be unhappy, losing breakfast listeners to slip to third place.
The rebadged hit107 breakfast team of Amos and Dani continued to struggle, registering just 5.5 per cent of listeners – down from 6.2 per cent in the previous survey and now well behind the likes of Cruise (7.1) and Triple J (6.5).
Overall, Mix 102.3 retained its position as Adelaide’s most popular station, but its lead was shaved significantly.
It was a poor survey for FIVEaa which lost its second position overall to ABC891, which had increases across all weekday shifts.
But perhaps the biggest story of the ratings is Southern Cross Austereo’s disastrous rebranding of once mighty SAFM. hit107 lost further ground to fall to 5.9 per cent of all listeners – only ahead of the specialist ABC stations Classic FM (3.1), Radio National (2.8) and News Radio (2.8).
