Sharing the good earth

South Australian historian Rob Linn will share some tantalising insights into the story of the Royal Agricultural & Horticultural Society of SA Inc (RA&HSSA), which has been part of our State’s life for 175 years.

Revealing the Society’s extraordinary archives, including our State’s largest community event the Royal Adelaide Show, Linn will demonstrate how the Society’s vision has moulded such institutions as the Adelaide Botanic Gardens and Roseworthy Agricultural College and played an important role in the Australian wine industry.

This About Time event is co-presented by the Hawke Centre and the RA&HSSA, and will enable the audience to appreciate how the RA&HSSA has advanced the cause of South Australia’s rural industries beyond any other organisation.

Find out more about this fascinating and influential organisation.

While the views presented by speakers within the Hawke Centre public program are their own and are not necessarily those of either the University of South Australia or The Hawke Centre, they are presented in the interest of open debate and discussion in the community and reflect our themes of: strengthening our democracy – valuing our diversity – and building our future.
