The concert will take place at the Adelaide Festival Centre’s Festival Theatre on June 7, with Cabaret Festival artistic director Julia Zemiro saying it will see “a new generation of music blooming and bursting through onto the Festival Theatre stage”.

Deadly Hearts is a celebration of Indigenous Australian artists, their music and their stories… Join us as we dance, groove and sing with Thelma Plum, Baker Boy, Tia Gostelow and Aodhan.”

The concert – presented in association with HOTA (Home of the Arts) and ABC Music – is inspired by ABC Music’s Deadly Hearts albums featuring songs from Australia’s “deadliest and most inspiring” young musicians.

Thelma Plum was nominated for multiple ARIAs in 2019, and scored three spots in the recent Triple J Hottest 100, including “Better in Blak” at number nine.

Hip-hop star Baker Boy, the 2019 Young Australian of the Year and winner of the 2019 National Indigenous Music Award, also made it onto the Hottest 100 list with “Cool as Hell” and “Meditjin”.

The duo said they were excited to be heading to Adelaide to perform alongside young Brisbane-based singer-songwriter Tia Gostelow, whose debut album Thick Skin won Album of the Year at the Queensland Music Awards, and Triple J’s Unearthed High Indigenous Initiative winner Aodhan.

“Adelaide always has such great crowds, with loads of energy – I love performing there,” said Baker Boy, who is also taking to the stage at the RCC Fringe hub at the University of Adelaide next Friday as part of its Utopia live-music program.

Deadly Hearts will be on June 7 at the Festival Theatre as part of the Adelaide Cabaret Festival, which runs from June 5-20.
