The Graham F. Smith Peace Foundation (Peace Foundation) was founded in 1989 as the Graham F. Smith Peace Trust as a lasting legacy to its namesake, Graham F. Smith.

On Thursday, November 26, Professor Barbara Pocock and Associate Professor Craig Campbell will launch Graham F. Smith’s memoir – Speak Up, Reach Out: A life to reckon with. Books will be on sale and all author proceeds will go to the Graham F. Smith Peace Foundation.

The purpose of the Peace Foundation is to promote peace through all art forms that relate to human rights, social justice and environmental sustainability.  They do this by providing grants to individual artists and community art groups for art projects. The Peace Foundation has been behind many of Adelaide’s iconic theatre productions, arts projects and public art.

The Peace Foundations namesake, Graham F. Smith was a lifelong activist and educator, Graham’s passionate commitment to peace and freedom took him around the world and into the classroom. Graham believed that people who are taught to think and to challenge and who are encouraged to expand their imagination can create a better world. His dedication to the egalitarian principles of socialism, democracy, peace, international understanding and the dignity of labour was the inspiration for the Peace Foundation.
