ReVision offers creatives a chance to connect online
Themes of resilience, adaptability, wellbeing and endurance will be at the fore of a series of online sessions for artists being presented this week as part of a Guildhouse program helping the creative sector meet the challenges posed by COVID-19.

The second season of reVision, the Summer Speaker Series, will take place online from December 1-3, with Art Gallery of SA curator of contemporary art Leigh Robb and 2020 Adelaide Biennial artists Julia Robinson and Erin Coates among the 10 speakers lined up to take part in six different sessions.
Guildhouse artistic programs manager Debbie Pryor says the voice of the artist is paramount in the program.
“ReVision enables access to a national community of makers, thinkers, curators and writers,” she says.
“Together they unpack their experiences around resilience, adaptability and wellbeing in arts practice, harnessing those learnings to go forward in this challenging time.”
The first Speaker Series session, at 1pm on Tuesday, is titled Endurance and Female Camaraderie in Creative Practice, and will see Robb (also curator of the 2020 Adelaide Biennial) and Perth-based visual artist Coates discuss “strength, survival and community through the lens of creative practice”.
Other sessions will include a discussion of social media strategy, with digital marketing consultant Kacy Ratta; an examination of the impact of mentorships on artistic careers, with UniSA researcher Professor Susan Luckman and contemporary jewellers Catherine Truman and Kath Inglis; and an exploration of the role of textiles in metamorphosis, with artists Liam Benson and Julia Robinson. Also taking part in the series are Melbourne-based performance artist and co-director of APHIDS Mish Grigor and Trish Hansen of Urban Mind Studio.
With the pandemic limiting interstate travel and resulting in fewer exhibition openings, reVision also offers an informal digital networking event called Connections, with this week’s session taking place at 7pm on December 3.
Connections uses the gather.town platform, which is said to mimic real-life interactions by allowing those attending to digitally walk through rooms and engage with invited guests, who include curators from around Australia.
