South Australian business Toast the Locals has re-launched its marketplace at the Adelaide Convention Centre, promoting locally produced products to conference delegates.
The platform, which launched as an online marketplace in 2019, connects producers directly with customers.
Toast the Locals director Angela Leske said she welcomes the return of conventions to Adelaide after COVID-19 restrictions were lifted.
“It’s great to be finally working with our producers and getting them involved in these events again,” she said.
Toast the Locals partnered with the Adelaide Convention Centre last year to showcase South Australian food and drinks to delegates who travel to Adelaide for conferences, but when COVID-19 hit, those plans had to be put on hold.
Last week, Toast the Locals re-launched their marketplace at the Oz Water National Conference Welcome Function, promoting eight local producers to more than 420 attendees.
Some of the brands on show at the function included Silver Bark Brewery, Purple Hands Wines and Spice Girlz Gourmet.
“Our Toast the Locals producers took over $3000 in sales in less than 2 hours,” Leske said.
“As we took the orders into a central sales system, we can guarantee there was lots of interest in our quality SA produce from the interstate visitors.”
Leske says the producers really appreciate the value-add and level of support.
“It’s a brand exposure and marketing opportunity they wouldn’t ever get on their own,” she said.
The online marketplace has 75 small food and beverage producers and 800 products listed for sale
“It’s a direct ship to customer model Australia-wide from each producer, and is multi transactional at checkout,” Leske said.
