A film festival at Serafino Wines and Sassi Ice Cream

Upcoming food and wine happenings, including the Fleurieu Film Festival at Serafino Wines, Sassi Ice Cream’s final week as producer-in-residence at the Adelaide Central Market and Sunny’s Pizza and Bizzarro Aperitivo host all-day party Bizzarro World.

Fleurieu Film Festival – February 13

Gather your friends and picnic under the stars at the Fleurieu Film Festival at Serafino Winery, where you can feast on a range of food from selected food vans and indulge in the Serafino wine and beer bar. Pre-screening entertainment includes music from the Onkaparinga Concert Band playing film themes, followed by upbeat folk music band, Saltwater Taffy. General admission is $35 and guests may order a cheese hamper for two for an additional $35.

Sassi Ice Cream at the Adelaide Central Market – until February 13

Sassi Ice Cream is serving their delicious vegan ice cream range from the producer-in-residence stall at the Adelaide Central Market from now until Saturday, February 13. The vegan ice cream is inspired by traditional Middle Eastern flavours and made using organic coconut milk in South Australia. Customers can choose from seven flavours including Tahini Twist, Saffron Fever, Baklawa Dream and Sage with Pomegranate Swirl. The Adelaide Central Market is open from Tuesday to Saturday, including night trading until 9pm on Fridays.

Somm for a Day Series – February 14

Ever wondered exactly what a sommelier does? The National Wine Centre’s head sommelier, James Boden, will host four interactive sessions on the topic. The Somm for a Day series will cover different aspects of the job while exploring six of Boden’s favourite Australian wines. Session 1, The Basics, will be held Sunday, February 14, from 1.30pm. The following sessions will be held February 28, March 14 and March 28.

Bizzarro World @ Sunny’s Pizza – February 14

Sunny’s Pizza will host an all-day, all-night party Bizzarro World in collaboration with Bizzarro Aperitivo and the bar next door, 1000 Island. There will be a one-off food menu combined with Bizzarro spritzes and cocktails, with entertainment provided by Nu Article featuring Cazeaux O.S.L.O. and guest DJs.

Gluttony – February 19 to March 21

Pizzateca, Ragini’s Spice Kitchen, The Filipino Project, Hubba Hubba Hummus and GANG GANG are just some of the food offerings coming to this year’s lineup at the Adelaide Fringe venue Gluttony, which opens its doors on February 19. With its program of more than 100 shows, Gluttony will keep audiences well-fed with a wide variety of treats for the whole family, including Filipino, Italian, Greek, Turkish, Thai, Vietnamese and Indian cuisines. There will be fresh and healthy options, as well as festival favourites like popcorn, donuts, roasted nuts, burgers and gelato. Vegan and gluten-free options are available.

Each year The Garden of Unearthly Delights creates a unique festival playground including multiple performance venues, bars, carnival rides, an array of world foods, market stalls, and unexpected sideshows. The Garden will feature beverages from Gordon’s gin, Fox Creek wines and James Squire beer, alongside a plethora of food stalls.

Food Truck Carnevale – February 19 to 21

Morphettville Racecourse will host a Food Truck Carnevale on the weekend of February 19 to 21, with food, a licensed bar, carnival rides, live music, kids games and activities, competitions, a silent disco and outdoor movies. The event is free entry.

Summer Nights Fork on the Road – February 19

Head to Seacliff’s Angus Neill Reserve and bring your picnic blanket and chairs to relax with dinner in hand while watching the sunset over the ocean. Fork on the Road is a food truck event series, with this family-friendly event hosted by the City of Holdfast Bay from 5:30pm. The food truck and bar lineup includes the VW Bar, Van Dough, Sooki La La, Beyond India, Smokin Bones BBQ, Staazi and Co, Delicia To You, TaCHs Stroopwafels and Sweet Scoops Gelato.

2021 Lunar New Year Street Party – February 20

The Adelaide Chinatown Precinct celebrates the 2021 Lunar New Year on February 20 with the 2021 Chinatown Adelaide Lunar New Year Street Party. Make your way to Gouger Street any time from noon to 9pm to enjoy the festivities, with more than 100 exhibitors, food and drink stalls and performances from a variety of Asian cultural groups.

Chilli Fest Willunga – February 20 to 21

Willunga is calling chilli enthusiasts to South Australia’s largest weekend dedicated to all things chilli: Chilli Fest 2021. The two-day festival, a staple in the Fleurieu’s event calendar, will be held at the Willunga Recreation Park from February 20 to 21, 10am to 4pm. Participants include Hillside Herbs, Bali in a Jar, Spice Girlz Gourmet, White Valley Jalapeños, Back 2 Basics Traditions, Chilli Factory Distributors, Yowchup Sauces, Brutus Hot Sauce and Matchett Productions & Big Sissy Foods.

Summer Golding Delicious Wine & Yoga – February 26

Join an outdoor practice of yoga overlooking Golding’s estate before enjoying some of Golding’s delicious food and wine. After yoga, participants will be treated with local produce curated by Golding’s in-house chef, accompanied by wine tastings. The evening costs $55 for yoga, supper and wine tasting.
