Hunt & Gather – throughout August

First presented in 2019 as an interactive exhibition showcasing the rich history of living food cultures in Adelaide, Hunt & Gather has been adapted to an online experience as part of SALA 2020. Through audio and visual elements, be welcomed into the homes of South Australians to join conversations and hear anecdotes. Celebrating the impacts of hospitality, Hunt & Gather is a journey through time and place, of gathering stories and discovering something new.

Hot Chocolate Month – throughout August

Barossa Valley Chocolate Company has dubbed August “hot chocolate month” and is celebrating by offering two new hot chocolate flavours each week. The first weekend kicks off with Go For Gold, a caramelised white hot chocolate, and Honey Bee, a milk chocolate delight infused with honeycomb. For children, there will be a few colourful creations including The Ruby Slipper, made with ruby chocolate.

Taste of Puglia – August 9

Pirate Life Brewing has teamed up with Panzerotti Bar to celebrate two of life’s greatest things – beer and Italian food – with a Taste of Puglia on August 9. The event runs from noon to 4pm at Pirate Life in Port Adelaide. Tickets are $35 and include an Italian feast of antipasto, panzerotti, plus the Italian sponge cake, Gattone.

Langhorne Creek Cellar Treasures – August 15—16

Wineries throughout Langhorne Creek will delve into their cellars for rare and museum wines to taste alongside current vintages. Each cellar door will offer museum wines alongside bespoke experiences. Immerse yourself in the Langhorne Creek region by booking into one of the many experiences on offer across the weekend.

Gin tasting on the Popeye – August 8

A Prohibition Liquor Co gin masterclass will be held aboard the Popeye on Karrawirra Parri River Torrens from 4pm on Saturday, August 8. Board at the Elder Park landing, cruise for an hour and a half, and learn from Prohibition the secrets behind the creation of their gin, how to best enjoy them, and be invited to create your own concoction. The ticket price includes a 90-minute cruise and a tasting flight of three of Prohibition’s best gins.

Plant Based at Plant 4 – August 15

Plant Based at Plant 4 is an entirely vegan event, featuring plant-based eateries, local craft beer, South Australian wine, spirits and cocktails, a unique selection of handmade shopping stalls, plenty of kids’ activities upstairs and live music. The event will be held at Plant 4 Bowden, running from 5pm to 9pm, with drinks and music until late.

Wine Dinners return to National Wine Centre – August 26

With a delayed start to the annual series of wine dinners, the National Wine Centre of Australia has announced the return of these culinary experiences for 2020. A Kangaroo Island wine dinner will be held on August 26, where guests will enjoy a four-course set menu created by the centre’s catering team, led by executive chef Steven Clark. The dinner will also feature wine pairings local to Kangaroo Island and hand-selected by head sommelier James Boden.
