Wine Playground ADL 2020 – October 31 to November 1

The Fruitful Pursuit’s Wine Playground event is returning to Adelaide, happening over two days at The Stag Public House. A total of 36 winemakers will pour more than 120 wines across the two days, and participate in open-air forums discussing the local, national and international industry. Big Easy Drinks will be running a bottle shop on the day, there will be pizza by Anchovy Bandit, coffee from Mischief Brew, chocolate by Steven Ter Horst, cheese by section 28 and tunes from Oisima. Oddio feat. Shōbōsho – October 30 to November 1

The crew from Shōbōsho are bringing some of their classic Asian flavours to a weekend party at Oddio — the winery, cellar door and bar located in a heritage-listed church in Bowden. To be held Friday from 5pm, Saturday from 3pm, and Sunday from noon, the event features new release wines from Frederick Stevenson and Giovanni Armani Giorgio, live music, DJs and food. No bookings required. Oddio is home to Delinquente Wine Co, Frederick Stevenson and Giovanni Armani Giorgio, with a range of their products available alongside craft beers.

Lucky Dumpling Market – October 30 to November 15

OzAsia’s Lucky Dumpling Market will take place in a bigger space this year, in a new location of Elder Park, on the Adelaide Riverbank. The pop-up food festival will be open Tuesday to Friday, 4.30pm until late, and Saturday and Sunday, noon until late. Discover a feast for the senses that will transport you to the street markets of Asia, with authentic cuisine, premium wine and beer, and a vibrant atmosphere. The Lucky Dumpling Market will also host free, live entertainment including music, dance and community activations. The festival is presented by the team behind the Adelaide Fringe hub Gluttony, in collaboration with OzAsia Festival.

OMG Donuts at Adelaide Central Market – Until October 31

There’s been a popular new pop-up at the Adelaide Central Market‘s producer-in-residence stall, with OMG Donuts serving up vegan, gluten-free donuts in the Market until Saturday, October 31. The stall offers a range of specialty hot donuts using powdered sugars made from dehydrated fruits, vegetables and spices. There are 12 flavours to choose from, including berry, choc mint, coffee and the classic cinnamon.

Vegan Festival Adelaide – October 31 to November 1

Vegan Festival will be held at Rymill Park/Murlawirrapurka from October 31 to November 1, and will this year blend live and streamed elements for the first time. Go along to sample vegan fare, shop, take part in workshops, listen to live music, and hear speakers deliver their screed virtually via big screens. The varied program includes yoga sessions, children’s activities, a sustainable fashion parade, and speakers discussing a wide variety of topics.

Producers in the Coonawarra region will host more than 60 free and ticketed events throughout October as part of Coonawarra Cabernet Celebrations. Highlighting the Coonawarra wine region’s signature red wine, Cabernet Sauvignon, the festival will ‘celebrate, educate and activate the senses’ with vertical tasting flights, blending masterclasses, dinners with winemakers, a golf day, and live music, all over the course of the month. Gather & Graze – November 7 to 8

CheeseFest+FERMENT festival is back, but in a smaller format, called Gather & Graze, and at temporary new home, The Market Shed on Holland. Gather & Graze will feature live cooking demonstrations, chef stalls, niche bars and produce, with demonstrations from Emma McCaskill, Karena Armstrong, Rose Adam, and Paul Baker. Local producers include Udder Delights, Second Valley Dairy, Woodside Cheese Wrights, Brewed by Belinda, Coriole Vineyards, My Grandma Ben, and more. Tickets must be purchased online.

A Share Summer Fundraiser – November 8

Hosted by Murdoch Hill Wines at Oakbank and with chefs from Share and Shakermaker Foods, A Share Summer Fundraiser is a long lunch of nose-to-tail pork, donated by Jason Stephenson of Boston Bay Smallgoods, with veggies by food rescue champions Oz Harvest SA. The donated pork is free-range and ethically raised. All proceeds are going to a charitable cause, tickets are $120 and include bus transport from Adelaide CBD to Murdoch Hill, matched with Murdoch Hill wines, a luxe five-course lunch, and music by DJs all afternoon.

Gin Sea Voyage Captained by the Makers – November 7 to 8

Gather on the outdoor deck of Hains & Co, where the stalwarts of the local spirits scene will offer an immersive Gin Sea Voyage experience from each of their labels and give a deep appreciation of their craft. Run as part of Tasting Australia Local, the event will be hosted by Sean Baxter (Never Never), Laura Carter (Applewood) and David Danby (Imperial Measures), and Marcus Motteram (Hains & Co). The event runs from 2pm to 4pm, tickets from $95.
