WOMAD will keep you fed, Riot Wine Co’s third birthday party

Upcoming food and wine happenings, including a diverse array of food and drink offerings at WOMADelaide, while Brompton’s Riot Wine Co celebrates its third birthday.

WOMADelaide – March 6 to 9

Adelaide’s four-day world music festival WOMADelaide is renowned for its food offerings, with an incredibly diverse selection of international cuisines prepared by some of Australia’s finest food vendors. Experience food choices above and beyond the standard festival fare, with dishes that draw inspiration from The Barossa to Bangalore. Meanwhile, bars include The Botanical Gin Bar, Coopers Garden Bar, Hills Cider Bar, and The Yalumba Bar.

Never Never Ramos Gin Fizz Party – March 5

Hosted by Nola, in collaboration with Never Never Distilling Co, the Ramos Gin Fizz Party party kicks off at 6pm with a bartending competition from 7pm to see which bartender can make the best Ramos Gin Fizz in five minutes. Legendary Adelaide guitarist Cal Williams Jr will provide tunes with his blues band Gray Moose from 8pm.

Riot Wine Co’s Third Birthday Party – March 6

Riot Wine Co celebrates three years in business with a party from 6pm at its cellar door, located at 59 Torrens Road, Brompton. The event will kick off with a free drink on arrival, followed by activities through the night, including tunes from DJ Benny Beaujolais, complemented by a Jamaican barbecue provided by La Dolce Vita.

Barossa. Our Story – March 5

Chefs of Barossa’s renowned eateries will join forces with wineries and distillers to present a single dining experience Barossa. Our Story. Over five sumptuous courses, matched with wine and gin, the dinner will showcase the culinary diversity and talent of the Barossa. Doors open for the event at 6.15pm at Vitalstatistix — the heritage-listed Waterside Workers Hall at 11 Nile St, Port Adelaide. Tickets are $165.

Adelaide Cup — March 9

Morphettville Racecourse hosts the most iconic race day on the South Australian calendar, with action on and off the track. General admission will cost you $30, while there is a range of hospitality packages including The Beer Garden, hit107 Starting Gate, SA Cellar Door and premium packages such as Mumm First Class. The Fashions on the Field Competition is open for entry online, or between 10am and noon on the day. Gates open at 10am.

Variety Showdown Shield Luncheon — March 13

Hosted by Mark Soderstrom at Adelaide Oval’s William Magarey Room, the Variety Showdown Shield Luncheon is supported by both Port Adelaide and Adelaide football clubs, with guest comedian, Lawrence Mooney. All proceeds support South Australian kids in need and the event runs from noon to 3.30pm.

East End Wine Down – March 21

East End Wine Down is a pop-up laneway taste fest in Adelaide’s Vardon Avenue, running from noon until 5pm. With more than 100 leading South Australian wines to sample there will also be cider tastings and street-style food from the likes of Mother Vine, La Taberna, Eros, and The Tasting Room. Tickets are $40.
