The Moseley Bar & Kitchen at Glenelg has been named South Australia’s Best Overall Hotel in the 2016 AHA SA Hotel Industry Awards for Excellence.

The seaside hotel received multiple awards in front of more than 800 guests at the awards presentation at the Adelaide Entertainment Centre last night.
The Moseley Bar & Kitchen, which has been transformed from a traditional “pub” into a modern multi-level venue with a large bar overlooking Moseley Square and Glenelg Beach, won the Best Bistro Metropolitan, Best Bar Presentation and Best Entertainment gongs.
“The Moseley Bar & Kitchen has shown excellence in three categories and, having also won three awards in 2015, the hotel is an extremely deserving winner of Best Overall Hotel for 2016,” said Australian Hotels Association (SA) general manager, Ian Horne.
“This hotel is successfully catering for a changing and more discerning patron looking for a high-quality, value-for-money and memorable experience.”
The Moseley Bar & Kitchen is owned by the RD Jones Group, whose founder Richard Jones died this month. Horne acknowledged Jones’ contribution to the development and promotion of the hotel industry over nearly 40 years, saying he was a “great industry icon”.
Other standouts at the awards included Leigh Street’s Pink Moon Saloon, which was named Best Small Venue, and The Ibis, Adelaide, awarded Best Mid-Range Accommodation. The Hotel Elliot received the award for Best Bistro/Casual Dining for what the AHA described as its “pleasant country pub atmosphere” and diverse menu celebrating local food and wine producers. All winners from the 2016 AHA SA Awards for Excellence will go on to compete in the National AHA Awards to be held on the Gold Coast in September.
