What are your top three Australian films?
Adelaide Film Festival has launched a national campaign asking people to nominate their top three Australian films – and for inspiration, it’s sharing the favourite films of industry identities including Hugo Weaving, George Miller, David Stratton and Margaret Pomeranz.

Adelaide Film Festival director Amanda Duthie says the #YOUMUSTSEE campaign invites audiences to come on an “adventure of discovery”, encouraging them to think of both feature films and documentaries made over the past 112 years.
“This campaign should excite debate and discussion of the Australian screen stories that had an impact as a child, a teenager, or older, whether it was the comedies, the drama, the action or the revelation of a true story told in documentary or fiction form.
“Was it a film where you recognised yourself? Or you learnt from a culture not of your own?”
Films which receive the most votes will be screened during the Adelaide Film Festival in October.
Muriel’s Wedding, Gallipoli, and Samson & Delilah are among the those which feature in a number of the top-three lists shared by the Film Festival.
However, there are also some lesser-known picks, with Mad Max and Muriel’s Wedding director George Miller including the 1919 silent film The Sentimental Bloke (based on the poem of the same name by CJ Dennis), while Samson & Delilah and Sweet Country director Warwick Thornton included the 1988 drama Ghosts of the Civil Dead.

Nominations can be made via the Adelaide Film Festival website until July 30.
