The 50 acts announced today for the March 6-9 festival in Botanic Park follow 20 revealed last month, including Grammy-winning American R&B and gospel legend Mavis Staples, the ‘golden voice of Africa’ Salif Keita and Australian party band The Cat Empire.

Jamaican musician Ziggy Marley has made a name for himself as a leading reggae artist in his own right, releasing eight records with his band The Melody Makers, including breakthrough album Conscious Party in 1988. He has also recorded seven solo albums, the most recent being 2018’s Rebellion Rises.

Marling, winner of the 2011 Brit Award for Best British Female Solo Artist, will present a stripped-back solo set for her debut WOMADelaide performance.

Other artists announced today include Brazil’s Jorge Ben Jor, aka “the King of Samba Rock”; Venezuelan disco/acid jazz/funk/Latin band Los Amigos Invisibles, said to be renowned for their explosive live shows; UK MC General Levy, and DJs Misstress Barbara (Italy/Canada) and Greg Wilson (UK).

Leading didgeridoo player and composer William Barton will perform new music with violinist Veronique Serret and his mother, singer-songwriter Delmae Barton, while Kate Miller-Heidke – who features in a virtual-reality installation that will be part of next year’s Adelaide Festival – will also take to the WOMADelaide stage.
