Flown in fresh from Broadway, “Daddy” Warlow fills us in on his last two years of treading boards in New York.

In an auditorium packed to the gunwales, Warlow and genuine Broadway babe (well, dame) Faith Prince targeted their Adelaide audience to a tee.

The pair opened with “So in Love”, that haunting melody from Kiss Me Kate, followed by old-time favourites from an array of musical including Guys and Dolls, Fiddler on the Roof, Sweeney Todd. Naturally, there were highlights from Phantom of the Opera and Annie.

In a rough narrative arc, the consummate performers fleetingly sketched how real life intersects with a life led on the stage.

Warlow charmed with his mimicry and Prince was as cutesy as they get. Together, their voices swelled, glowed and harmonised. It was a measured pace, they were assured in their gestures and it was surely a taster for more to come.

With the exuberant Adelaide Art Orchestra and vibrant lighting, the show made us laugh, tear-up and get the goosebumps we hoped for.

Anthony Warlow and Faith Prince performed onc show only at the Festival Theatre as part of the Adelaide Cabaret Festival, which continues until June 21.
