Where Once There Was Peace

How deep is the sea
When it’s held in your hand?
What measure of time
Is in a small grain of sand?

What truth is a memory
Of days long time old
How warm is a fire
When its embers are cold?

What smile can I see
Through the frown on your face?
What affection of love
From a shallow embrace?

How bright is the sun
On a dark stormy day?
What wisdom is in words
That have no more to say?

Is love in our hearts
While our thoughts never cease?
Comparisons killing
Where once there was peace.

Simon Jones lives in the Macarthur region that forms the foothills between the Blue Mountains and Southern Highlands of New South Wales. He writes poetry and music, and has recently started to seek publication for his poems. He has found an ‘ethereal’ approach to his poems to be important.
