Described as the creative concept of Sefton and presented in partnership with Insite Arts and Carclew, the space has been named Grounded and today released its full schedule of events which will run from February 16-18 and February 21-25.

They include Saltbush – Children’s Cheering Carpet, an “interactive journey through the culture and landscape of Aboriginal Australia, celebrated through live dance, music, song and stories”, and UK puppet theatre production The Secret Life of Suitcases, about an office worker whose life is turned upside down by a flying suitcase.

Grounded will present an outdoor screening of Girl Asleep, based on the Windmill Theatre production of the same name, and a “Supermassive” family music festival headlined by singer-songwriter Sarah Blasko and also featuring performances by multi-instrumentalist Adam Page and DJ TR!P, slam poetry, dance, climbing gyms, installations and creative workshops.

Sefton, who presented four Adelaide Festival programs from 2013-16 and also worked with Insite Arts to bring the stand-alone Unsound electronic and experimental music festival to Adelaide last year, said he felt the Fringe needed a “dedicated family-friendly” precinct offering “a broad and contemporary program of events for young families”.

“Grounded is a new event hub that offers many free activities as well as frontline ticketed shows, whilst relaxing amongst art installations, food and beverage trucks and a safe comfortable environment.”
