Lionel Richie with Chic and Leo Sayer – Botanic Park

Iconic ballad and RnB singer Lionel Richie will perform classic hits including “Hello”, “All Night Long (All Night)” and “Endless Love” at Botanic Park tomorrow night. The show will open with a set by Leo Sayer, followed by disco band Chic featuring Nile Rodgers around 7.30pm, then Richie taking to the stage at 9pm. Those attending are advised to arrive early, with DJ music from 4.30pm, plus bars and food outlets. Last time we checked tickets were still available.

Zephyr Quartet – La Bohème

Adelaide string quartet Zephyr Quartet will launch their new album Aspirations with a live show at La Bohème bar on Sunday. The album features music composed by the quartet for the Brink theatre production The Aspirations of Daise Morrow. Adelaide actors Lucy Lehman and Jim Smith will join the group on stage to do short readings from the story upon which the show was based. Performances are scheduled for 4pm and 7pm. Details here.

After Dinner – Dunstan Playhouse

Thirty years after it was first produced, this lonely-hearts comedy is being re-staged by the State Theatre Company. Written by SA playwright Andrew Bovell, After Dinner will transport audiences back to the pre-Tinder era of the late 1980s, following the story of three women and two men who meet at a pub bistro. Bovell describes it as a “sexually graphic” and “very funny” social satire about looking for love in this interview with InDaily. Performances begin tomorrow and run until April 29 at the Dunstan Playhouse. Find out more here.

ASO’s Organ Symphony Master Series – Adelaide Town Hall

The Adelaide Symphony Orchestra will perform a selection of pieces by Wagner, Bernstein and Saint-Saëns at the Adelaide Town Hall tonight and tomorrow night. The concert will be conducted by Nicholas Carter and will feature James Ehnes on violin. More information here.

Drawing on Country – regional SA

Art lovers from across the state are invited to creatively interpret their landscape to celebrate Country Arts SA’s 25^th birthday. Drawing on Country will be held in 15 different locations tomorrow, with each hosting an artist who will be on site on provide advice and arts materials for people to try. First Fridays – Art Gallery of SA

The Art Gallery of SA’s monthly after-hours event returns tonight with live music, an artist floor walk, and a table-top game of Dungeons & Dragons. This month’s event highlights the fantasy-inspired work of local artist Roy Ananda, whose art is currently on show in the Adelaide Biennial. Electronic band <IF END BEGIN> will perform in the Sculpture Courtyard from 5pm, followed by an artist conversation with Ananda and curator of contemporary art Leigh Robb from 6pm. An experienced “Dungeon Master” will guide a table-top Dungeons & Dragons game (bookings essential). There will also be medieval sword-fight role-playing demonstrations at 6.30pm and 8pm. State Opera Musical Soirée – State Opera SA

Emerging opera singers will perform at the State Opera tonight and tomorrow night as part of an intimate Salon de Musique soirée. The performances will feature arias and famed ensembles from Massenet, Gounod and Bizet. More information here. 

The Wizard of Oz – Festival Theatre

Playing at the Festival Theatre, The Wizard of Oz transports audiences down the Yellow Brick Road with a musical adaptation of the much-loved family film. The London Palladium production stars Anthony Warlow, Wicked’s Lucy Durack and Jemma Rix, and Samantha Dodemaide as Dorothy. New songs by Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber feature alongside classics from the Oscar-winning film score. Performances run until April 29. 

Colours of Impressionism – Art Gallery of SA

More than 65 Impressionist paintings from the Musée d’Orsay in Paris are now on display in the Art Gallery of SA’s Elder Wing in Colours of Impressionism: Masterpieces from the Musée d’Orsay. Highlights include Monet’s La Pie (The Magpie) and Le Bassin aux nymphéas, harmonie rose (Water Lily Pond, Pink Harmony), Manet’s Serveuse de bocks (The Waitress), Cézanne’s Golfe de Marseille (Bay of Marseille), Renoir’s Gabrielle à la rose (Gabrielle with a rose) and one of the Musée d’Orsay’s five versions of Monet’s Cathédrale de Rouen (Rouen Cathedral). Provenance – Space Theatre

Jazz heavyweights Vince Jones and Paul Grabowsky will reunite to perform their 2016 album Provenance and other jazz tunes at Space Theatre tomorrow. Described as an “intimate musical conversation”, Provenance will combine Jones’ vocals with Grabowsky on piano. Tickets available here.

Alliance Française French Film Festival – Palace Nova Cinemas

The annual Alliance Française French Film Festival is on at the Palace Nova Eastend and Prospect cinemas until April 15. This year the festival will screen 50 films over one month. Iconic French actors including Juliette Binoche, Vincent Cassel, Vanessa Paradis, Isabelle Huppert and Gérard Depardieu star in the selection of comedy, drama, romance, biopic, period and animated feature films. Rock & Roll Rendezvous – National Motor Museum

Head to the National Motor Museum in Birdwood on Sunday for a rock ‘n’ roll-themed music, dance, fashion and car event. Hundreds of classic and muscle cars will be on display alongside retro bikes. Fashion parades, dance demonstrations and live music will also entertain crowds. Part-proceeds from the event will go towards Down Syndrome SA. Find out more here.

Open Air Cinemas – Glenelg

Follow the journey of superhero and heir to the throne T’Challa as he attempts to retake his place as king in Marvel’s newest superhero instalment Black Panther, which is screening at the Open Air Cinemas at Glenelg Beach tonight. Also screening are Game Night (tomorrow), The Greatest Showman (Sunday), Dirty Dancing (Tuesday), Red Sparrow (Wednesday) and The Rocky Horror Picture Show (Thursday). DJs will entertain crowds on Friday evenings and food sampling will take place on Sundays. Dogs are welcome at all screenings. Gates open at 6pm and films begin at sundown. Grug and the Rainbow – Space Theatre

Windmill Theatre Company’s production of Grug and the Rainbow will return to the Adelaide Festival Centre’s Space Theatre from this Tuesday after a series of successful world tours. Described as a “magical, interactive world of endearing puppetry, music and storytelling,” the performance follows the popular children’s character as he embarks on a journey to reach the rainbow that always seems just beyond his grasp.
