The 2014 Adelaide Biennial of Australian Art: Dark Heart draws to a close this Sunday. Described as ‘the exhibition we’ve been waiting for’ by art historian and critic Joanna Mendelssohn (InDaily, 5 March 2014), the Biennial is Australia’s only ongoing survey of contemporary Australian art and features over 28 artists and collectives.

If you haven’t seen Dark Heart yet or want to catch it one last time before it closes, make sure you visit the Art Gallery of South Australia over the closing weekend for two special events.

On Saturday May 10 at 1.00pm, hear Gallery director and Dark Heart curator Nick Mitzevich’s closing remarks as he reflects on his vision for the exhibition and the importance of the Biennial for the Gallery and the Australian contemporary art scene.

On Sunday May 11 at 2.00pm, in a unique and one-off event, Melbourne-based choreographer and dancer Brooke Stamp will perform a contemporary dance piece responding directly to Sally Smart’s The Choreography of Cutting (Spring) in the exhibition space. This fitting collaboration is a manifestation of Sally’s ongoing interest in movement, dance and the human body, and is an event not to be missed.

The 2014 Adelaide Biennial of Australian Art: Dark Heart runs until Sunday 11 May at the Art Gallery of South Australia. Admission is FREE. Limited copies of the exhibition publication are available at the Gallery Shop while stocks last. Find out more, click here!
