The Geelong midfielder caught Geary in the head with his knee as he attempted to break free of a tackle during the Cats’ shock loss to the Saints at Etihad Stadium on Saturday night.

But the MRP assessed the contact as accidental with the red-hot Brownlow Medal favourite still able to take out the game’s highest individual prize.

The incident drew heavy scrutiny in the media yesterday, but Dangerfield himself was relaxed that he had no case to answer.

“From my perspective it is (a beat-up) … it’s hard to get up when someone’s grabbing your leg,” Dangerfield told the Nine Network’s Sunday Footy Show.

“From my perspective the contact was very much insufficient (to warrant a report).

“You understand there’s a lot of scrutiny in the game no matter what happens … I’m not worried about it, simply because I don’t think there’s anything in it at all.”

The Cats were knocked from the top of the AFL ladder with the shock three-point loss to St Kilda.
