Vic Labor kicks out 180 alleged branch stackers

Nov 27, 2015, updated Nov 27, 2015

Almost 200 Victorian Labor Party memberships will be immediately cancelled following an investigation into branch stacking.

The party’s administrative committee decided to axe 180 memberships on Thursday night, the ABC reports.

The purge follows an internal investigation into the use of anonymous prepaid credit cards to pay for memberships.

It’s understood a further 300 will face dispute proceedings over their memberships.

The probe was prompted by allegations of branch stacking and led to Labor suspending all internal elections until February 2016.
