The goal is no longer realistic, the Danish capital’s mayor, Sophie Hæstorp Andersen, told Danish broadcaster DR on Monday.

“It’s mega annoying that we won’t make it in 2025. I’m really sad about that,” she added.

Copenhagen has been touting its ambitious climate goal for more than a decade.

According to broadcaster DR, the city has already reduced its CO2 emissions by 80 per cent.

But a reduction by 100 per cent was not possible within a time frame of three years, the mayor told the broadcaster.
