Trengove suffered a black eye when hit outside a beachside Adelaide hotel early Sunday morning, Port says.

“Trengove did not retaliate and left the scene immediately,” Port said in a statement on Monday.

“He was not seriously injured in the incident but has bruising around his left eye.

“Based on all of the available information at hand the club is satisfied Trengove did not break any team rules and will be available for selection this weekend.”

The incident outside a pub at Moseley Square in Glenelg happened a day after Trengove kicked three goals in Port’s 90-point win against Carlton at Adelaide Oval.

South Australian Police said police were called to Moseley Square about 12.30am Sunday after reports of a fight.

But when officers arrived “the group had dispersed and there were no offences reported to police at the time”, police said in a statement on Monday.

Earlier Monday, Port assistant coach Michael Voss said his club’s players were not under any restrictions as to their time away from the club.

“They (players) are still human beings and they have a life away from here,” Voss told reporters.
