SA Police said a number of South Australian schools had received threats today.

Authorities have yet to release the names of the schools but say parents at affected schools are being notified of the incidents.

“The source of these threats, and whether there are any links to co-ordinated phone threats interstate, is still under investigation,” a police statement says.

“The safety of students remains the top priority for both police and education authorities.

“Police and the Department for Education and Child Development are working together to ensure an appropriate response in each case.

“Schools that have been affected will be contacting parents directly to notify them of the incident.”

Several schools, including Adelaide High School, were evacuated following threats yesterday.

The principal of Adelaide High School, Anita Zocchi, told InDaily yesterday that staff and students had returned to classes after police said the threat had been a hoax.

“We received a phone call that was a bomb threat, so we went into our normal evacuation procedures,” Zocchi said.

“Once we had the all clear from police, staff and students returned to class.”

Zoochi said the school was “well-practised” in evacuation drills, and that “everybody’s fine”.
