Asthma Australia, whose website warns sufferers that motor vehicle emissions can worsen asthma symptoms, will be the official charity of the Clipsal 500 next year.
South Australia, the country’s most asthma-suffering state, has hosted the puffer-pulling pollution parade since 1999.
The race will break slightly from tradition next year, featuring an emissions-free bike ride around the circuit, led by former professional cyclist and asthma sufferer Stuart O’Grady.
It’s aimed at raising awareness for the condition, and $150,000 for asthma sufferers and their families.
Clipsal 500 Adelaide Director Mark Warren encouraged all fans to donate generously.
