Royal Adelaide Golf Club has hit back at reports it denied international music star Justin Timberlake a round of golf.

The Advertiser claimed Timberlake had been unable to get a game on Sunday because the course was too busy.

“The article’s just not right,” Royal Adelaide’s general manager Andrew Gay told InDaily.

“He was booked in and scheduled to play on Sunday.

“He was having a practice hit on the range when news cameras turned up and his management decided to avoid the cameras and sent him back to the hotel.

“The remaining four in his entourage played.”

The Advertiser also reported Gay as saying he was unaware that Timberlake was considering playing.

“They rang me yesterday when I was on my day off and asked if he was playing Monday and I said I didn’t know because I was on my day off; they didn’t ask about Sunday.

“It makes Royal Adelaide look bad and we’re not. We are always trying to assist the promotion of South Australia.”

Meanwhile, Royal Adelaide features in a major tourism promotion in Golf Digest magazine’s September edition.

The five-page article highlights a tourism package called Four Reds which matches the top class golf courses of Glenelg, Kooyonga, Royal Adelaide and Grange with fine wines.

Four Reds offers holiday packages for three to six nights in Adelaide, including all course fees, transfers, accommodation and paired wine experiences with premium wines and winemakers.

Four Reds also featured in two segments on the popular Foxtel program, “The Golf Show” earlier this year.

Brett Ogle, host of the national golf program, joined TV presenter and golf aficionado, Andrew Daddo, at the Four Reds courses and three of the four wineries paired with the experience, Henschke, Hentley Farm and Rockford.
