Police are appealing for people to come forward with information which might help their investigation into the death of eight-year-old Adelene Leong at the Royal Show last Friday.
“This appeal is for people who haven’t already contacted us, so if you could do that that would really help our investigation,” Chief Inspector Selena Dinning told a press conference this morning.
“If anybody has any footage or any photographs we’d be very keen to hear from people.”
“We are also keen to hear from anyone who was in the area at the time of this tragic incident or anyone who experienced anything unusual on the ride.
“Even a small detail may be the crucial information which leads to a clear understanding of what took place.”
Police released a photograph of the young Malaysian girl, selected by her mother, in the hope that it would encourage showgoers to come forward with any information.
Adelene’s mother described her as “my lovely beautiful … wonderful little angel of my heart”.
Police have spoken with between 30 and 40 people in relation to the incident.
About 20 of those people were on or around the Airmax 360 when Adelene fell out of her seat.
Dinning said it was too early to tell whether any charges would be laid against the operator of the ride.
She said the operator was being very cooperative with the investigation.
“This investigation has obviously touched everybody,” she said.
“Everybody involved has been very helpful.”
Adelene’s body has been released to the family, who have been offered support by police, the Malaysian Embassy and the Royal Adelaide Show Society.
