Marshall’s man off to Property Council
Gannon, top right, will move out of the shadows
The main lobby group for property investors and developers, the Property Council, has a new local executive director – Liberal Party media adviser Daniel Gannon.
He replaces Nathan Paine who left the role to take up a position in the council’s national office in May.
The Property Council lobbies for changes to stamp duty, land tax and development and building controls.
It had been a strong opponent of the Labor Government’s car park tax, leading a campaign to convince the government to scrap the tax.
Gannon, 30, a prominent member of the Liberal Party, has spent the last 20 months as media adviser to Opposition Leader Steven Marshall.
His previous parliament house experience included stints with Marshall’s predecessor Isobel Redmond and Upper House MP Rob Lucas after leaving university with an Arts degree.
The Property Council’s SA President Ben Yates said Gannon was chosen after an extensive recruitment process from a strong field of candidates.
“The Property Council has a big agenda in South Australia and Daniel is the right person to lead the Property Council in this state,” Yates said.
“He has the leadership, political and communication skills to deliver the property industry’s pro-growth agenda to policy makers, the media and the public.
“He’s also got property in the blood, with a family that has built a successful South Australian construction company from the ground up.”
