Safety Grants For Regional South Australia

RAA Insurance’s Regional Safety Grants are targeted at creating safer communities for people in rural South Australia and Broken Hill.

Not for profit organisations, community groups, schools and registered charities, with a project or activity that will impact safety in their local area, are urged to apply. There is only one week left to get your application in so make sure your project is included in the selection process.

RAA’s Amanda Trainor says the program has assisted over 35 regional projects around the state since 2013.

“Over $100 thousand dollars has been distributed to community projects from Ceduna to Mt Gambier and we expect strong interest again this year.”

Eligible projects are not limited to road safety but can include any initiative that improves the safety and security of community members.

“Last year the program provided playground fencing for Broughton Mundoora Netball Club and soft fall at the Ceduna Sports Club Playground.

“The Mt Gambier and Districts Road Safety Committee received funding for a campaign targeting driver distraction and in the Riverland we provided safety equipment to a group of retirees who support the community with wood working projects.

“Our Grant committee will consider any safety related project with a clear goal, plan and outcomes.

“In the last few years we’ve seen some really innovative projects and our goal is to provide support to groups that may struggle to fund their initiatives through other channels because of their regional location,” said Ms Trainor.

The program supports safety related projects valued from $500 to $5000 with a total grants pool of $50,000 on offer. Projects must be completed within a year.

Applications for the RAA’s Regional Safety Grants close at 5pm on Friday, 31 March 2015. For more information or to apply, visit www.raa.com.au/grants , or call (08) 8202 4711.
