Edible flowers, Christmas classics and cocktails at the races

Edible Flowers Workshop – December 10

This workshop, featuring Sarah Kibble from Honest Earth, will offer participants an introduction to edible flowers, with growing tips, a recipe demonstration and shared afternoon tea. It will be held from 2.30pm until 4pm on Saturday at The Joinery community space at 111 Franklin Street, and will include a walk through of the on-site community garden to identify and harvest flowers. Christmas at the Markets – December 9 and 16

Adelaide Central Market is hosting free Christmas cooking demonstrations on Fridays throughout December. This Friday, Fiona Roberts will demonstrate how to make a Quince and Pomegranate Glazed Ham with Cherry Salsa and the classic prawn cocktail, while Tony O’Connell offers tips for preparing, storing and carving your Christmas ham, and on December 16, 2015 MasterChef finalist Jessie Spiby will share her favourite Christmas desserts. All cooking demonstrations run from 6pm to 7pm.

An Evening with the Elephant – December 12

An interactive dinner party will be held at Superfish (the new venue in the courtyard space next to the Crown & Anchor) to raise awareness and funds for batyr, an organisation which runs programs encouraging young people to speak openly about their mental health. Coriole Vineyards, The Hills Cider Company and Mismatch Brewing are sponsoring An Evening with The Elephant, and the menu will be a showcase of Superfish’s food. Twilight racing – December 16

Celebrate the start of the festive season with a night of twilight racing at Morphettville Racecourse where you can enjoy espresso martinis by The People vs Coffee, a fruity cocktail bar, and Mitolo and Son’s Pizzateca. Gates open at 2pm for a 4pm start. DJs will be performing on the main stage after the races.

Cellar Door Fest 2017

Tickets are now on sale for the 2017 Cellar Door Fest next February at the Adelaide Convention Centre. There will be 180 wineries, breweries, distilleries and food producers providing tastings over three full days, with the chance to take part in a number of masterclasses. The festival will run from 5pm to 9pm on Friday, February 24, until 6pm on Sunday, February 26.
