Southern Expressway land hits market

Renewal SA has put four elevated lots in the Tonsley Innovation District on the market.

The land parcels – all more than 2500 square metres in size and zoned for multi-level construction and mixed-use manufacturing/commercial operations – are located adjacent to Hydrogen Park SA in the south eastern corner of the Innovation District, right next to the Southern Expressway.

The parcels of land represent some of the last remaining vacant space in the District, according to Renewal SA, and boast finished civil works and connected services.

“This is a significant opportunity for any business that sits within Tonsley’s four sector pillars – Cleantech and Renewable Energy, Health, Medical Devices and Assistive Technologies, Mining and Energy Services and Automation, Software and Simulation – to join the District,” said Alana-Rose Capozza, Renewal SA’s commercial sales and leasing manager.

“The District is humming, and we are seeing time and again, as new businesses join the precinct, the instant elevation their brands get, thanks to the collaborations and networks accessible to them at Tonsley.”

The allotments for sale include: Lot 802 Edison Road (3759 sqm), Lot 803 Edison Road (2708 sqm), Lot 804 Edison Road (2504 sqm) and Lot 806 Edison Road (3753 sqm).

Two other allotments – Lot 801 and Lot 807 – are also for sale but are currently under negotiation, Renewal SA said.

Rockwell Automation, BAE Systems, SAGE Automation, Micro X and Tesla are among the manufacturers already based at the Tonsley Innovation District.

SA grain exports set sail

Grain exporter Viterra saw its first 24,000 tonne harvest shipment set sail for international markets this season from its Thevenard port terminal near Ceduna.

Viterra chief operations officer James Murray said it kicks off the record breaking seven million tonnes of forward shipping booked for grain delivered into the Viterra network’s six port terminals in South Australia.

The company has another record with 18 exporters booking forward shipping this harvest season with a request for 27 million tonnes of shipping capacity over the next five years.

He said it “really shows the industry’s confidence in our network” as growers across Viterra’s sites begin delivering barley, wheat, lentils, peas, canola and faba beans.

Viterra Western region Operations Manager Nick Pratt reported the Thevenard, Witera and Wudinna sites had all received good tonnages of both barley and wheat, and Port Lincoln, Cummins, Arno Bay, Edillilie and Kimba have now all received loads of canola.

New SA wine club chapter targets Hong Kong growth

The state government has picked eight Hong Kong wine importers to be part of the South Australian Wine Ambassadors Club (SAWAC) in the latest bid to grow exports to a key Asian market.

The SAWAC, launched in July, selects local wine importers to promote South Australian wine brands in their local market.

The Hong Kong chapter of the invite-only club was launched on Friday, with local importers Anrise-IMC, Aquaseason Professionals, Black Type Distribution, Continental Wines, Rising Dew Enterprise, Royal Orchid Wine, Sunday’s Distribution and 12 Bottles chosen to be part of the club.

The SAWAC also has chapters in Japan, South Korea, Singapore, India and New Zealand. The club now boasts a network of 43 wine importers across six markets.

“We are quickly establishing a global network of leading wine importers across the Asia-Pacific region to promote and bring in more South Australian wine,” Trade and Investment Minister Nick Champion said.

“We value Hong Kong as a vital market for our premium products and recognise the importance of building trade relations through this new partnership.

“The ambassadors now on board will help deliver some of South Australia’s best wines in hotels, restaurants and on the shelves of specialty shops.”

The state government estimates the 43 ambassadors within the SAWAC will deliver around 90 “new-to-market” SA wines across the six target countries over the next two years.

Meeting charts SA’s path towards net-zero

South Australia’s first energy transition round table members met last week to talk about reaching the state’s target of net zero carbon emissions by 2050.

Groups shared their energy vision for the state as the State Government works to gather input for its Energy White Paper to be published next year.

Residential, commercial and industrial energy consumers, energy industry participants, investors, producers, market bodies, peak bodies, and research institutes were at the session.

Engagement is also starting on the government’s $593 million Hydrogen Jobs Plan with calls for public input on yoursay.sa.gov.au

A two-day forum held in Port Augusta earlier this month was attended by many Aboriginal leaders to discuss renewable energy and hydrogen plans for the Upper Spencer Gulf.

“This first energy transition roundtable was an exercise in collaboration – we will co-design SA’s energy transition to meet the goal of not only net zero carbon emissions by 2050 but also affordable, reliable and cleaner energy for generations of South Australians to come,” Energy and Mining Minister Tom Koutsantonis said.
