Premier Jay Weatherill made the announcement from Beijing today, on the first day of his latest trade delegation to China.

The agreement is with the China Railway Group, one of the world’s biggest construction companies.

Weatherill said the agreement “sends a strong message” to the company that South Australia is open for business.

The agreement says that the two parties will collaborate on mining infrastructure projects which may include “accommodation villages”, ports, airports, railways, roads, refineries, desalination plans, power station and water pipelines.

The China Railway Group has an annual turnover of $82 billion and employs more than 300,000 people.

The Iron Road iron ore project on the Eyre Peninsula was cited by the Premier as a possible project for collaboration.
