The line will include over 100 products, retailing from $10, featuring his iconic nautical and leather looks across clothing, shoes and homewares.

The haute couture designer, who created pop star Madonna’s famous cone bra corset, said bringing his collection to Australia and the collaboration with Target fit into his fashion philosophy.

“Every time I’ve been to Australia I’ve been impressed by the laid-back unstuffy confidence that Australians display with their fashion,” Gaultier said in a statement.

“I believe in fashion that you can wear every-day not just on a catwalk – which is really what Target stands for at its core.”

Target has previously worked with designers Missoni, Dion Lee and Stella McCartney.

The Jean Paul Gaultier for Target collection releases early-2016.
