Laws to put in place tax breaks for small business in being presented to parliament today.
The federal budget set out a $5 billion plan to bolster small business, including a 1.5 per cent corporate tax cut, $20,000 instant asset write-off and five per cent tax discount for unincorporated businesses.
Farmers were also offered a tax break for capital works such as fodder storage and fencing, which will start from budget night.
Small Business Minister Bruce Billson will take the bills to parliament today.
He has urged Labor and crossbench senators to fast-track the legislation through both houses in coming weeks.
Labor has given in-principle support for the bills but wants to see the details.
Shadow treasurer Chris Bowen told reporters in Canberra the government was playing politics with the package by delaying its introduction to parliament.
