Cabcharge director quits on AGM eve

Nov 26, 2014

Cabcharge director Rod Gilmour has quit the taxi payments company’s board on the eve of its annual meeting for shareholders.

Cabcharge announced his sudden resignation on Tuesday night but gave no reason for his departure.

He was appointed to the board in June by chairman Russell Balding.

Shareholders were due to vote on the appointment of Gilmour, who chair’s the NSW Telecommunications Authority, at Cabcharge’s annual general meeting in Sydney on Wednesday.

Media reports suggest some shareholders were critical of his appointment because he’d previously acted as a consultant to Cabcharge, between 2012 and April 2014.

Shareholder activist Stephen Mayne is also standing for election to the board at the AGM.
