The Life and Music of Stevie Wright and The Easybeats
For teenagers who think they know everything to baby boomers who have done everything. The true story of a life filled with drugs, women, rock and roll and 18 hit songs. Scott McRae stars in this world first, warts and all stage musical on Saturday night only.

French Christmas Market
Alliance Francaise d’Adelaide is holding its second French Christmas Market this weekend, creating a French atmosphere to connect South Australians with French culture. At this family-friendly event, there will be an aerial parade, the premiere of the restored version of the film Verdun, visions d’histoire by Leon Poirer (1928), gifts, French food and wine, live music, cooking demonstrations, craft, children’s activities and more. Opening tonight at 5pm at the Unley Soldiers Memorial Gardens and running until 12am, the French Christmas Market will also run on Saturday from 10am until 10pm. More information can be found here.
Othello
Shakespeare’s tragic tale about the anti-hero and army general whose downfall is brought about by trickery and deception is presented in a contemporary war-zone setting in this new production by the State Theatre Company. The play is directed by Nescha Jelk, who says that her decision to cast Palestinian-born Hazem Shammas as Othello acknowledges “the current climate of fear and uncertainty about ‘the other’ in Australia today. Deep South Festival
In its third year, Deep South – Blues, Roots and Folk – Festival will take over The Gov for two days and three nights this weekend. Tonight features Women Sing the Blues (Carla Lippis, Zkye and Gail Page); Saturday is Roots Extravaganza, a full day and night of music over three stages; and Sunday is Up Close and Personal, an intimate concert of six solo or duo acoustic performances include Ray Beadle, Hat Fitz and Cara Robinson, Glenn Skuthorpe, Steve Brown and Jesse Deane-Freeman and more. Stop! in the Name of Art!
12 artworks – stripped of all evidence of who created them, where these artists are from, how and why each piece was created and where they were created – will be displayed in a pop-up gallery in Rundle Mall where viewers will be asked to choose their favourite piece and then explain their reasons. At the end of the three week project, which aims to challenge some of the fundamental framework of the art world, each artist will be revealed. Week 1 of the project starts today at 5pm and will also run on Saturday from 12pm. More information can be found here.
Husky
Following the release of their second album Rucker’s Hill last month, Melbourne band Husky with special guest Ali Barter will play tonight at the Adelaide UniBar at 8.30pm as part of their Australian tour. Tickets and information are available here.
Tom, Dick and Harry – Adelaide Rep
“Two illegal immigrants, a dead body and a truckload of contraband cigarettes” – the Adelaide Repertory Theatre’s latest play is a comedy of errors by Ray Cooney centred on three brothers. Tom and his wife Linda are trying to adopt a baby and his brothers want to help them make a good impression with the adoption agency … but things don’t quite go to plan. McLaren Vale’s Gorgeous Festival offers two days of live music, headlined by Xavier Rudd, The Waifs, The Beautiful Girls and Busby Marou; the Cliquot Mailbox Bar where Veuve Clicquot, Krug, Dom Perignon, Ruinart and Moet will be available by the glass; creative haircuts at the new Barber’s Stage to raise money for Flinders Medical Centre Foundation; henna tattooing, market stalls, children’s entertainment; and the Gorgeous Table feast with three of the region’s top chefs going head to head against three of the city’s best tonight.

Fashion Icons
This Art Gallery of South Australia spring-summer exhibition showcases glamorous Parisian fashion. Fashion Icons comprises some 90 haute couture garments from the collection of the Musée des Arts Décoratifs, including designs from the late 1940s to the 21st century by the likes of Christian Dior, Gabrielle Chanel, Alexander McQueen, Karl Lagerfeld and Yves Saint Laurent. Fashion Icons: Masterpieces from the Collection of the Musée des Arts Décoratifs, Paris will run until February 15, 2015.
Luminous World
Showing at Samstag Museum of Art, this exhibition highlights the role light plays in creating and revealing the world around us. The paintings, objects and photographers are from the Wesfarmers Collection and showcase the work of 50 Australian and New Zealand artists, including Bill Henson, Susan Norrie, Fiona Pardington and Nyapanyapa Yunupingu. Luminous World is accompanied by Luminous Cinema, a program of film and moving image works by artists such as Lynette Wallworth. Both exhibitions run until December 5. More information here.

Feast Festival
Food, Frolic and Feast with Michael Griffiths at Maximilian’s Restaurant at Verdun; Picnic in the Park at Pinky Flat on Sunday at this Feast family event including the Feast Dog Show, a tug-of-war with the Metropolitan Fire Service, DJ Lush, DJ Cross and gourmet food and wine by Fork on the Road and Feast Bar; and catch a few laughs with one of Australia’s funnies comedians Hannah Gadsby or ride the rollercoaster of shocks and frocks with ‘Clown Prince of Polyester’ Bob Downe (both acts showing tonight and Saturday night at the The Grainger Studio). Feast, a 15-day queer arts and culture festival featuring comedy, cabaret, music, visual art, forums, and food and literature events, continues until November 30.
Our Mob
The Adelaide Festival Centre’s annual exhibition of Indigenous art features more than 140 artworks by 114 different artists from throughout South Australia ranging in age from just seven to over 80. Our Mob is showing in the centre’s Artspace Gallery until January 25, while an accompanying contemporary art exhibition and showcase of work by young Indigenous artists are in the Festival Centre foyers until December 7.
Battle of the Flowers EP launch
Adelaide-based Matt Ward and Yvette Booth form Battle of the Flowers, a duo playing a steely and evocative blend of the darker sides of indie rock and alt country. Achieving a big sound with Matt on guitar and vocals and Yvette on drums, vocals and keys, the pair create bittersweet harmonies, energetic performances and a refreshingly raw approach to song writing. See and hear them play two sets (one acoustic and one electric) at La Boheme at 6pm this Sunday. Tickets are $15.
